About 16 months ago, I started the practice of sharing a quote on my social media feeds every Friday. I intended to stop at the end of 2019, but these #FridayThankful quotes became an important part of my week. I couldn’t give them up. So, I kept going.
Since then we’ve had some ups and downs in 2020. Finding a quote to share each week inspires me during these turbulent times. And they help me connect with my online community. After the deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and so many others, I decided to search for quotes from Black leaders, authors, and artists. Celebrating their words has been a joy. And a salve.
The 2020 edition of my #FridayThankful eBook contains the quotes I shared between November 2019 and October 2020. I’ve done my best to ensure that the proper authors received credit, and I am in no means claiming these quotes as my own.
This year has been challenging with a pandemic, civil unrest, and a challenging political environment. I hope this collection of words brings you an opportunity to reflect on the past — and to usher in great hope for the future.
